Celebrating Culture and Sustainability at the Heritage Community Fashion Show

Home Celebrating Stories Celebrating Culture and Sustainability at the Heritage Community Fashion Show
Heritage Community Fashion Show

On Thursday, April 3rd, the Department of Resident Life hosted the annual Heritage Community Fashion Show from 6-9 pm. The fashion show showcased fashion from different cultures and promoted thrifted and secondhand clothing.  Terp to Terp Campus Reuse Store hosted an open shop that allowed event attendees to browse through and take free clothing that was donated by other students.

The Office of Sustainability tabled at the event with an activity that promoted reusing clothing by making upcycled key chains out of discarded t-shirts. Participants could braid and tie colored strands of t-shirt fabric together to create a keychain. This activity spotlighted how students could repurpose old fabrics into a creative DIY keepsake.

The OS table also highlighted local second-hand clothing stores such as Uptown Cheapskate and Value Village, where students could either donate or buy second-hand clothing to promote sustainability.

For more information on how to donate clothing on campus, check out Terp to Terp’s Move Out Donation Drive from May 14th to May 21st, 2025, or sign up to volunteer!
