Students at Campus Sustainability Month Celebration

This October, the Office of Sustainability celebrates Campus Sustainability Month by hosting a celebration in Hornbake Plaza! The event was held on Thursday, October 23rd, from 1-3 pm and featured 18 organizations and university departments. The organizations were able to promote their initiatives and also share interactive activities related to sustainability.

Campus Sustainability Month is promoted by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and is an international celebration where colleges and universities engage students in sustainability change.

The event was held in collaboration with the Office of Multicultural Involvement and Community Advocacy (MICA), the Department of Residence Life, and the Department of Transportation Services (DOTS).

This year, the event focused on promoting the newly launched Green Terp Bucket List Challenge. Students could receive a free cone of cotton candy once they enrolled in the Bucket List’s ELMS Canvas page and posted a photo of themself completing one of the 20 bucket list challenges. The Office of Sustainability presented activities such as a sustainability action dot wall, postcard making with climate art mini-prints, and a nuclear energy activity. The event also featured the Outreach Bike, which allowed students to engage with an electric-powered bicycle and helped them check off an item from the bucket list.
